Ares acquisition and platform successor
Ares Management Corporation closed its acquisition of Black Creek Group's U.S. real estate investment advisory and distribution business, including the former advisor, on July 1, 2021. Ares did not acquire Black Creek Diversified Property Advisors Group LLC, the former sponsor; the company thereafter treated the Ares real estate group as sponsor and expected the business to continue operating consistently with past practice4. The announcement of the transaction described the acquired U.S. advisory and distribution business as including the Black Creek Exchange DST program3.
An Ares Real Estate Income Trust annual report for the year ended December 31, 2024 identifies Ares Diversified Real Estate Exchange LLC (ADREX) as formerly known as Black Creek Exchange LLC and as a wholly owned subsidiary within the Operating Partnership structure1.
